Music / Choir Ministry

The church has a powerful choir:  Euphonious Choir! We also have a Praise Team that sings more contemporary songs and encourages everyone to join in with worship! The church traditionally hosts an annual "Choral Festival". Guest renowned musicians are invited from Ghana to participate.

The choir presents individual selections as well as united choir anthems, during the worship service.There is no audition required to sing in the Euphonious Choir, but some voice training and music reading skill is common amongst the singers. For more information on joining the Euphonious Choir, please contact the Choirmaster Mr. James Varrick Armaah.

Brief History

When the good Lord opened the doors of Woodhaven Presbyterian Church for us to worship in their Church Hall, there was no standing Church Choir. Ian Hosu Porbley the first organist who started with the new House Worship Fellowship led the church music efforts.

On Sunday the 5th of March 2017, the clarion call went out for the formation of the Church Choir. These are fifteen brothers and sisters that presented themselves to sing to the glory of God. Irene Frempong, Efua Frempong, Beatrice Fiase, Antoinette Nordor, Betty Osae, Akos Ohemeng, John Hodo, Gershon Sodzi, Smart Lokko, Peter Ashitey, Eben Glover Brown, Samuel Sapari, Akpene Kofi Fiase, Ian Porbley.

On Sunday the 7th of May 2017 the Mother Church, Woodhaven Presbyterian Church presented us with a set of green Choir robes, which we wore on that day, to the Glory of God. On Sunday May 28th, 2017 the choir convened its first official general meeting and the executives were elected.

Word for today

Psalms 27:1-5

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked advance against me
    to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
    who will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
    even then I will be confident.

One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
    and set me high upon a rock.
